Hey guys, I'm setting up an intranet at work just with html and css and I wanted to know if I could implement some kind of a search for the articles on it? We don't want to use Sharepoint and can't really afford to buy anything to do it anyway. I know you can implement a google search for your site if it's on the internet but is there anyway I could do this over a LAN? The intranet is working off IIS and I'm using DW to design it. Thanks in advance, Neil You could use a script like sphider ...

Hi, I am pretty new to a website design/development. I just started with the basic HTML & CSS. I am now thinking of creating a website which allow users to download ebooks (this is just for studying purpose only and just share locally in the intranet). I believe that HTML & CSS itself is not enough to build such website and i am badly need your advise on this matter. I have designed my layout by having header, main content and footer. Main content is where the update information/links should be shown. ...

Hi I am new to this forum and I need some assistance from other experienced fellows. I have done a quite a few basic webdesigns as well as PHP and connecting to sql db. I would like to add frames to my website and in these frames I need to add some live content such as from a news website for example cnn or others. I also would like to link to live local weather reports. I am not sure if I am using the correct terminology by saying "live content". I use dreamweaver CS3. Can anyone point me to the right ...

I got a network web server that i use for sharing files... im setting up a php website for the intranet... how do i publish this so its only accessible within the network? If you are in intranet, people outside cannot access your computer, except you setup router to allow people outside access your computer through port forwarding. So do not worry about it, its only accessible within the network. You can give your network's people your ip address and they can access your website through URL like this: ...

Hi, I'm working for a company and they want me to design an intranet. I'm quite competent at creating websites and am eager to learn how to create 'dynamic' websites. What software would I use? I use dreamweaver at home, could I use this and read up about asp.net to create database functionality to create a people search for employees etc... We use a windows server that does not support PHP or MySQL i think. Any suggestions? Visual Studio is the tool of choice for ASP.NET. I don't really like the code that ...

Hi all, I have been trying for weeks now to get this to work, but to no avail!. I am trying to use a php form processor to submit a html page with various text fields etc (but for testing I am using the included html page that comes with most php form processor packages) to an smtp email address, but integrating it with a microsoft exchange server would work well too. The files live on a Red hat linux 9 box, running php 4, mysql and apache. I have noticed that I have access to sendmail, but i am unsure how ...

Okay, I need some serious programming answers PLEASE!!!!. Here is the scenario: Customer wants users to authenticate based on where they came from. They have several locations that the users will be coming from. They don't want anyone to be able to access their website from anywhere other than these locations. The locations ip addresses will be changing regularly. Is there a way to have a page on the INTRANET internally that the users will go to and it will start a session or place a cookie and pass them ...

Hi guys, I've been out of the game for a while now, but looking to spice up my home network a little. I'd like to start a little home intranet that such that I can have my DVD library on hand at all times, recipes that I like, etc, etc. Eventually I will share my music and use a dynamic DNS service to be able to access this data anywhere. So, maybe a little too much information, but I'm looking at doing a typical WAMP setup. I was always under the impression that these softwares were always standalone, but ...

Any ideas why IE8 would extend a container past an <hr/> element that clears both, but not a <br/> ? Neither element has a single rule that applies to it in the stylesheet. There isn't a single wildcard (*) selector in the stylesheet either. Attachments: This is the version with <br style="clear:both;"/> Attachments: This is the version with <hr style="clear:both;"/> try giving the <br/> a display block, a height and a width. That would force the hasLayout in IE. <br /> is an inline element and <hr /> is ...

Hello. I'm completely baffled at the moment. Here's the scenario: I've designed, developed and administered my company's Intranet website, employing HTML & PHP as the main browser technologies. We've recently moved the Intranet from a Windows NT server to a Windows 2K server, with all necessary software going with it (i.e. Apache, PHP, MySQL). Also, the old server has been renamed and the new server given the old server's name. All seemed to be working okay until I tried a webpage which uses software I'd ...
