I've been using this for some time. Years. I went to log in last night and it was nowhere to be found. I thought that was weird but after looking around for it a bit I just downloaded another. Strangely the download turned out to be an old version. 4.7 in fact. There is no place to upgrade/update. When I Google for the latest, all the downloads are 4.7. Any thoughts? It's Live Messenger now, is that what you're referring too? Where did you get 4.7 from? That's not Live Messenger. Yeah, that's what I'm ...

I guess I may have to break down someday and get skype. Quote: Microsoft will retire its Windows Live Messenger chat service, shifting its focus instead to similar functionality in Skype, a new report says. On the back end, the merger of the two systems has been happening already. Skype now ...

Ok, so i am a curious guy. I get the new software when it comes out (except for vista, won't touch that). So I downloaded the new Windows Live Messenger. Double clicked the installer. The cursor changed to the arrow with the hourglass, and then back to the good ol' arrow. So now, me thinking it was a program clash, I uninstalled the old Windows Live Messenger, and tried to install again. Once again no luck. Rebooted, retryed, rebooted, retryed. Still nothing. So then, thinking I will cut my losses and try ...

I have seen this problem posted here before with some sucessful fixes. I have removed IE 7, all the way to six, reinstalled up to 8, back down to 7, and back to 8 again. With IE 8, it tries to reload the page and eventually errors out. With IE 7, it just crashed. I ran Hyjack This and it looks reasonabley clean, but perhaps someone else can see something I don't. Please, No suggestions about not useing IE and switching to Firefox, save it. Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 9:30:14 AM, ...
