Hi! I'm thinking about getting the T-Mobile 4G Mobile Hotspot plan for $20/month, but I don't want to buy their hotspot devices. Instead, I was wondering if I would be able to use my Galaxy Nexus as a wireless hotspot and use wi-fi tethering. I really don't want to spent over a $100 dollars on those devices. Is this possible? If so, what speeds would I get on my Galaxy Nexus? Would there be any additional monthly charge? I am currently on T-Mobile's family talk/text plan with no data. Thanks a lot! Can you ...

Ok, my girlfriend has a ZTE Score, she bought it pretty much to use for wifi/mp3 player... I was just wondering. if I was to leave my hotspot on for her phone while we were out, just for the heck of it we'll say 5 hours a day at most, would T-Mobile in any way be able to catch me doing this and cancel my data or anything (I'm rooted, I do not have a tethering plan)? Also, how much would it effect my battery? I currently have the 5gb at 4g plan, so I'm not at all worried about going over my data. Her phone ...

Hi, I want to root my phone so I can use mobile hotspot. However, I am afraid to do it because after I've used it for 3 months, I can call T-mobile to unlock it so I can use the phone overseas when I go on vacation. I am afraid that if I root my phone, T-mobile won't be able to unlock it for me or they will find out and refuse to unlock it. Has anybody called T-mobile up to unlock a phone successfully after rooting it? I have a Samsung Galaxy S II and T-mobile. Thanks, Quote: Originally Posted by drjoker ...

I have a thread in the T-mobile forum, but am thinking I might get more of a response here. T-mobile keeps telling me I'm using up all my HotSpot allowance, but I've never turned on the HotSpot for this phone. The tech guy on the phone said that there may be an app sucking it dry in my phone and to do a factory reset. Would Beyond Pod do this? My phone isn't rooted, so I would think it wouldn't allow apps to have that permission to access the Hotspot if it's not turned on. Is there any way to find out what ...

My Nexus One power button died today so I went in to the T-Mobile store expecting to buy an S3 but came out with a Note 2. I paid cash ($700!!) and kept my grandfathered plan. Complaint: On my Nexus One I could turn it in to a Hot Spot but on my new phone I get an error message that my plan does not cover that. Long story short, T-Mobile wants to charge me $15 extra a month to get something I already had. Question: About the price ($650 pre-tax), I asked them if I could get the phone cheaper if I signed a ...

When Virgin Mobile came out with the unlimited web for $35, I decided on an Optimus V. Of course before I made the purchase, other carriers began offering similiar programs- T-Mobile Monthly4G - $30 (Unlimited Web & Text with 100 Minutes Talk) available only at wal-mart maybe the HTC G2? There are probably a couple more plans- I'm in the southeast USA, and so cricket isn't available. It's a big decision when I'm not sure on the network OR phone- can anyone give me a good jumping off point? What I want in a ...

I'd like to hear from anyone who has used their Note 2 as a hotspot with T-Mobile. I paid for this feature, frankly it was the second biggest reason I dropped the iphone and moved from AT&T to T-Mobile. For days i've tried switching up the security, resetting, checking various wifi devices, only permitting one device etc and it just constantly drops. I listen to streaming media most of the day. I have full bars of 4G service in my office. My iPad will instantly connect to my wifi hotspot but seconds later ...

Are you guys getting free wifi hotspot using the galaxy nexus on t-mobile? I have held my original nexus one on t-mobile because the wifi hot spot is killer for me. I am on the t-mobile prepaid now, unlimited talk/text/web for $63.25 (tax incl) and it would be great to bring the galaxy nexus to this plan. Yes, the wireless tether option is still there, still free on T-Mobile, and works well. Thanks Woodrow, that is good news!

I downloaded iSkoot, the Skype application for Android. Made an overseas Android to computer call, which was a bit choppy over wi-fi, and then tried calling an overseas landline. To my surprise, iSkoot dialed a 1877 number which, using Skype credit, routed my call over the net to the end number. I wonder why is iSkoot dialing when I call a landline? In effect this is no different than, say, a Net2Phone card. Did T-Mobile restrict it? And then I thought it was a bit hypocritical of T-Mobile to get worked up ...
