What do you all think about designing for browser compatibility? Up until recently I had just been concentrating on optimizing my sites for Internet Explorer; which I thought was the most common browser. I have heard a lot more lately about Firefox and Netscape browsers and how they can display content differently. I downloaded both of these browsers and viewed my site in all three and I only noticed minor variations. Mostly it was minor text sizing and spacing issues. The image boarders appeared expanded ...

I want to make some web sites. How do I get started? Where do I get started? this is in response to a previous thread and I only quoted most of what I said there http://www.ozzu.com/website-design-forum/going-about-learning-t54704.html I recomend you get your hands on as many books that you can find. go to the library and look through them so you know which ones you want to buy (the ones that you will want by your side for ever and ever) These books arent cheap. Go to tutorials, ask anyone you know if they ...

Dear ebveryone, I have a 2.1 device. I have installed Opera and Firefox on it. I would like to chnage the default Internet browser to either Opera or Firefox, but I cannot see how. I checked and there are some applications (OperaBridge, Make it Default), but these were removed from the Market place (Perhaps Google was unhappy people choose not to use their own browser...) I tried to use Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Internet won't work because the Clear default option is greyed out. ...

Is there a FREE way to test your pages on different browsers and OS without having to load a bunch of stuff in the computer? I currently test on Firefox (my default browser) and IE. I don't want to install Opera or any other browsers or worry about different versions on my system. Also, obviously, I can't view the way a Mac looks on my Windows computer. I know there are paid sites that offer this service but wondered if there was anything free that anyone knows about. W3C should offer that service for ...

In another thread, a number of people said they were seeing somewhat different results, and some of us though this might be due to search personalization and we recommended the various things one can do to make sure search is not personalized. Yet people were still seeing different results even with personalized search definitely turned off (e.g. with pws=0 in the search URL). I was skeptical and asked for a keyword example. JoshZ suggested "butterfly walves." I tried it and became a believer. And the more ...

Hello All, I am having a small issue lining certain things up between the PC versions of some modern day browsers and the Mac versions of the same modern day browsers… I have searched the web for a "script" of some sort to first be able to target whether the user is on a PC or Mac, and then run specific CSS Hacks to target between Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, & Opera, to get my the website to look as "exact" as possible… [ SCREENSHOTS ATTACHED BELOW ] So to be clear… The ...

When I first got my Google Samsung Galaxy Nexus, clicking on the "globe" at the bottom right brought up the phone's built-in browser. I added Chrome for a browser, and from then on, when I clicked on the globe, I got offered a choice of the standard browser, or Chrome. I just added Firefox. I expected clicking on the globe to now offer a choice of three browsers, but instead it just goes to the phone's default setting. I went into the browser settings, and restored the defaults. No change. Is it possible ...
