Was reading through some of the posts here and noticed a couple of times that users may have javascript turned off. I have been using html/xhtml/javascript as a hobby for many years now and never understood why people would do this. Just wondering why people would turn it off when it poses a minimal security risk compared to all the "free" programs that people download from the net without giving it a second thought. It's not just a security matter, disabling javascript will get rid of popups as well. Some ...

SO, does anyone know of a site somewhere that has access to statistics showing how big a percentage of browsers have java enabled? Cause, i was doing a jquery menu, and someone told me "Not many people have java active in their browser, usually turn it off" And I'm not sure that's true.. Or is it? You mean Javascript, which is not the same thing as Java. I think most users have Javascript enabled these days, because many if not most sophisticated modern websites require it to work properly. Having Java ...

im having some javascript problems when browsing. When I visit my ISP homepage, i can see a small java error message, and the same on another site I use. Javascript is enabled in my browser options (IE) and the firewall (norton) is not restricting the activeX or java so i can't work it out. I can't work out what is wrong. I even tested another browser (Firefox)and still get the same thing so there is something wrong with my system somewhere. To see if there was a prob with my Java version I tried to find ...

Hey Ozzu gang. I'm posting this idea for comments and just as an information peice. Take with it what you will. I'm going to try and avoid actual programming here for simplicity sake. I've actually developed a working prototype in ASP, but the idea is easily portable to PHP or whatver though, since it's little more than simple HTTP variable handling. Server-Side detection of Javascript. The problem: While detection scripts everywhere can know whether or now a certian browser *should* be able to run ...

Hello. I have a webview inside of a dialog, and I really need JS enabled. The problem is, when I enable it, the app force closes when it opens. This is a honeycomb app. Has anyone else had this problem? And code to fix it? I am not posting the code right now, because I know I am typing the correct code to enable it (Tried many different ways,) and I also put it in different places... I can post the code upon request. Just hoping this has happened to someone else, and they figured it out. Thanks!

Hello again. The website we have was coded in Java by a contractor and we would like to re-enable the maximise button on the browser. The guy we had in had written some java that opened the project site from our main site in another browser and made it hide/disable the max/min buttons on the browser. I don't code in Java so I don't know how to enable the buttons again. Does anyone know how to do this ? The code is below.... <script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript"> function launchProjSite(w) { ...

hi guys, is there a way to determine if javascript is enabled using PHP? regards Err, you can't? I'd love to see an answer to this one. PHP by itself, no. Browsers generally don't include the text/javascript mime-type in the HTTP_ACCEPT header, and that's the only piece of information PHP would have on an initial request to determine availability. PHP can reliably determine availability of JS on a second page load, after an initial page has been loaded in the browser and given the chance to toggle a ...

I.e. <body> <noscript>Hello. This page uses javascript, however you appear to have javascript disabled. Please click <a rel='nofollow' href="non_js_page.htm">here</a> to go to a non-javascript version of this page.</noscript> .... (rest of page) .... </body> <body> <noscript>Hello. Me again, slightly related to my previous post. What happens to the following when the user doesn't have javascript enabled? <tr onclick="window.location.href='newpage.html'"><td>click here I suppose then nothing would happen, so is there an alternative using the <noscript> option? Is it worth using the alternative since it seems most people have javascript enabled? I'm aware that you could use an href but I don't want the text inside the row to conform to any link text style. Hmmm.... You may want to use ...
