Sorry about the basic questions, but my google searches have failed me. It seems from other postings that: The 'Kernel Version' is the linux core that google uses to build their Android Version from. The 'Android Version' is built by google and is the core of what people eventually build custom ROMs from. ? The 'Build number' is the custom ROM that was built from the Android Version. ? Not totally understanding the process, when Jelly Bean was released I rooted my phone (Verizon Galaxy Nexus) and installed ...

I feel so stupid asking this question. But I´m trying to find the Google Maps App in Android Market and I can´t find it! Searching on the internet I can see that there was a new release last June and the Android Market site lists it as an available app. Also, Google Maps site says to search for "Google Maps" in Android Market to get the latest release. But I do that and find nothing! Is it me? What am I doing wrong? My T-mobile G1 had this app installed and working until today. But I just rooted my ...

When I use stock rom I can install Google voice search but now I have hybrid AOSP ROM, now when I try to install Google voice search I can't . There's no install button. Please check the screen shot. Why is that? Have you checked your app drawer to see if it was baked into the rom? Quote: Originally Posted by Andima Yes Google voice search app available in the app drawer. I can text, receive text, and also receive calls from my Google Voice #. But when I try to make calls using my google voice # it keeps showing my actual phone number to the people I'm calling. I've set the phone to ask whether or not to use google voice or actual # and I've also tried the use google voice for all calls and I get the same results for both, it keeps calling from my actual #. Hopefully I'm making sense with my problem Thanks for the help. PS - I think this has only started happening after I ...

Hi I've rooted my phone yesterday because I wanted to uninstall a lot of system apps so my phone would run a bit faster. I googled about which ones I could uninstall safely, but I screwed my phone nevertheless. Everytime I go to Android Market and try to download an app, I get the message "the transfer will start", but it never does. I guess it might have to do with the fact that I've uninstalled all Google apps from my phone and from what I'm beggining to realize after searching the net, they might be ...

I'm rooted, running liquid rom v1.1 and want to use google wallet. How do I use it and where can I get it? Thanks! Search is your friend There is a decent size thread here somewhere that has all the info you need. Dude, I don't know if Google has fixed the exploit that people can use to access your Google Wallet if your phone is rooted... so I can't recommend that app for you. Have you considered the security aspects of installing this? Liquid doesn't have it baked in? A lot of roms do. I personally ...

I feel this is an important question that I have not yet found a direct answer to: If ROM developers can make my GNex run this smooth (or any phone for that matter), than why can't Google/Samsung/Verizon from the get-go? Thanks in advance to whomever is able to shine some light on this for me. One thing I can think of(I may be wrong) is that they have so many phones that are being developed and produced. They're having to make it run differently on different phones and so many phones. Still no excuse for ...

I feel confused about these two things we can add to android phones and can not find any straight answers why one should choose one to another, so I decided to ask you. What is the difference between those two (or similarities), and is it possible to have both of them on the phone? Cyanogenmod is a team that makes roms. Cyanogenod 7 for example is just a rom that is created by the Cyanogenmod team. Cm roms are all aosp and are like stock android with some added features so it is one of the closest to stock ...

So I have a old HTC Desire and I want Google Hangout on it. But of course it is not compatible. I have rooted my phone so my question now is, if I get a custom ROM could I then get Hangout??? Does it depend on the ROM? You need to have the Android v2.3 (Gingerbread) or higher for Google+ Hangouts to work on your phone. The last official update for the Desire was to Android v2.2 (Froyo) I believe so yes you'll need to root and install a custom ROM for it to work. DURX has a rooting guide in the HTC Desire - ...

Is there such a thing ? I am on MH8 now so I prefer not to root until such point there is a workaround (like Triangle Away) for the Knox Warranty counter. Would still love to have the GE ROM so I am wondering if that is even possible without rooting .. There is no way to change your ROM without upsetting the install counter. If you don't want the +1, just leave it stock. Even if you tried install the ROM directly with Odin, it'll add to both counters. F%£&@ .... So I might have screwed up twice over ...
