Please note: This guide is dated and I would recommend using the new Facebook Javascript API for this functionality. Check out this guide on the Facebook Developer site. I have spent countless hours searching the Developer forums and reading over the wiki and haven't found a single, all-encompassing source that describes how to properly use FB.Connect.streamPublish(). This article is geared towards iFrame applications, but the same methods are used for external web sites using Facebook Connect. Also, if ...

Hi to all I am putting my website together now with dreamweaver. Should I use index.htm as my home page ( as the tutorial says) or should I use my keyword rich domain name? I am thinking the name I use while building the site in DW probably has nothing to do with SEO, but just want to make sure. Also while trying to search for an answer to this is these forums I ran across a couple of posts that suggest index.html was better than index.htm. Can anyone be bothered explaining the difference, and why the ...

I am just getting started learning about seo. I have a basic question: What would be the best choice for a page url? domain.com/keyword/ domain.com/keyword/keyword.htm domain.com/keyword/index.htm domain.com/keyword.htm Also, is there any penalty for the same content being served by: domain.com/keyword/ domain.com/keyword/index.htm I have seen bots crawl a directory, guessing the location from the link to a specific page( ie domain.com/keyword/index.htm causes domain.com/keyword/ to be checked for ...

I have read a number of posts where the advice has been to point all internal links to your domain name and not index.htm...Why.....what possible difference can it make..would someone clear this up for me. Also, and this might sound silly, would'nt the page take longer to load if someone clicked on the "home"link and it was pointing to the URL and not index.htm? if you don't understand what difference it'd make you should learn more about search engine optimization. the number of links pointing to a page ...

My main keyword is Wimbledon and google.com normally shows me on page 1 between positions 8 and 10. Sometimes Google shows two home pages (in succession) for same keyword– one page is the domain.com/index.shtml and the other is just domain.com/. The domain.com/index.shtml page is always the first and latest crawl (usually 2 days old) and the domain.com/ page is always about 4 days behind that one. When this occurs I drop about two positions with these two pages to find myself on page 2 positions 1 and 2. ...

A while back in google my domain name was in the google index as http://www.domain.com and last week I noticed it was stated in the index http://www.domain.com/index.htm. All of my back links point to http://www.domain.com, so last week under my google site map account I set this as the preferred domain. Today I noticed my domain http://www.domain.com is in the supplemental results and http://www.domain.com/index.htm is also in the supplemental results. My guess is Google is seeing both domains versions ...

Hello, first time posting, hope this is the right forum for my question, its a little google related. I found my index.html on the server was marked -rwxr-xr-x , all other files are -rwxr--r-- . OK I know the additional x's of the index.html means executable for others. My question is: does this have an effect on a spider, speciallly a googlebot? Thanks in advance. Hi Olaff, The main setting you need is R-eadable. I've never seen a case where the permissions meant much to G-Bot. If you can browse to a page ...

How do I redirect all pages on my site to index.html via the .htaccess-file? To redirect ALL files on your domain use this in your .htaccess file if you are on a unix web server: redirectMatch 301 ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.com redirectMatch permanent ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.com You can also use one of these in your .htaccess file: redirect 301 /index.html http://www.domain.com/index.html redirect permanent /index.html http://www.domain.com/index.html redirectpermanent /index.html ...

Due to a change in servers, I have two index pages running: www.domain.com/index.htm and www.domain.com/index.html My site index and all internal links simply point to www.domain.com. What would be the best way to get rid of the duplicate index page? Should I delete or redirect the duplicate page? Thanks in advance. I believe the 301 redirect would be the best bet. Just curious, why do you have .htm and .html - why not just stick with one? You could just 301 redirect both www.domain.com/index.htm and ...
